German language and basic education courses - Information for course providers

German language courses

German language courses that are funded by Municipal Department 17 - Integration and Diversity (MA 17) are subject to strict quality standards. All teachers have to adhere to the curriculum "German as a second language and literacy classes".

The qualification profile of teachers is described on pages 47 and 48 of the curriculum.

Basic education

Course providers of subsidised courses have to adhere to strict quality standards. They have to get an accreditation from the Adult Education Initiative (Initiative Erwachsenenbildung).

All basic education courses are funded by Municipal Department 17 - Integration and Diversity (MA 17), the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, and the European Social Fund in the framework of the Adult Education Initiative by the federal government and the provinces.

For teachers

If you want to work as a teacher for such courses you need further training in "teaching basic education" and have to work for an accredited course provider.

The qualification profile of teachers is described on pages 22 to 24 in the programme planning document of the Adult Education Initiative ("Initiative Erwachsenenbildung") (1,7 MB PDF) (German)
