Integration in Vienna – Where to get advice

There are several advisory centres for new migrants who need advice or information about residence issues, (re-)entering work, access to further education or a place for their child(-ren) at kindergarten, for example.

Residence and working in Vienna

Do you have any legal questions regarding residence permits, citizenship and working in Austria? Contact the advisory centre for migrants (Beratungszentrum für Migrantinnen und Migranten).

Helping Hands provides information regarding residence permits, employment of foreign nationals, asylum law and all issues regarding discrimination.

The advisory centre "PERSPEKTIVE - Anerkennungs- und Weiterbildungsberatungsstelle für Asylberechtigte und NeuzuwanderInnen" supports new migrants and persons entitled to asylum with information and advice about the recognition of their qualifications acquired abroad and about further training measures in Vienna as well as financial support for further education measures. The service is available in several languages.

The association for Austrian-Turkish friendship (Verein für österreichisch türkische Freundschaft) provides new migrants with information about residence permit regulations, insurance such as health, accident or unemployment insurance, the Austrian pension system, basic benefit (Mindestsicherung), attendance allowance (Pflegegeld) and questions regarding the tax office.

Neighbourhood and district

The branch offices (Regionalstellen) of Municipal Department 17 - Integration and Diversity (MA 17) provide support in the neighbourhoods and districts in all questions, projects and ideas regarding good neighbourly relations.

Racism and discrimination

The advisory centre Zivilcourage und Anti-Rassismus-Arbeit (ZARA) provides information about legal and other options in cases of racist incidents and assaults. The staff of ZARA supports victims of racist incidents and assaults during legal procedures and documents racist incidents and assaults that have been reported by witnesses.
