Accessibility Statement

The City of Vienna endeavours to make its websites accessible in accordance with the Vienna Anti-Discrimination Act (Vienna Provincial Law Gazette 35/2004, as amended) implementing Directive (EU - European Union) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 October 2016 on barrier-free access to the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies (OJ - Official Journal ) of the European Union – L 327 of 2 December 2016, page 1)

The present Accessibility Statement applies to the website www.wien.gv.at.

Compliance status

Due to the following inconsistencies and/or exceptions, the website is partially compliant with level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines - WCAG 2.1 in accordance with the current harmonised European standard (EN) 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021-03).

New content is created in compliance with Directive WCAG 2.2 AA

Non-accessible content

The City of Vienna’s website contains older applications that are partially not accessible or not yet fully accessible.

In principle, the City of Vienna aims to provide information in accessible form wherever possible. New applications or enhancements to existing applications are designed to achieve maximum accessibility. Older applications are adapted or replaced in the medium term.

The content listed below does not comply with accessibility guidelines for the following reasons

a) Incompatibility with the Vienna Anti-Discrimination Act (Vienna Provincial Law Gazette 35/2004, as amended) implementing Directive (EU - European Union) 2016/2102

  1. Some elements still have captions or text descriptions that fail to ensure maximum accessibility.
  2. Some elements in online forms still lack sufficient contrast.

b) Disproportionate burden

Adapting the existing application would cause a “disproportionately high burden” but replacement by a more modern solution is underway:

We endeavour to generally provide sufficient text alternatives or subtitles to video and audio content. Given the high amount of audiovisual content published, it is not always possible to provide the alternatives simultaneously with the publication of the original audiovisual content.

c) Applications currently not available in accessible form which are integrated with the City of Vienna website but exempt from the Vienna Anti-Discrimination Act:

• Live videos (exempt under Article 10a (1)c of the Vienna Anti-Discrimination Act)

Creation of the present Accessibility Statement
