Youth College

"Start Wien – the Youth College" is an educational offer for young people from 15 to 25 years of age. It offers 200 course places. The aim is to help these young people prepare for secondary schools, vocational training or a permanent job. To participate in the Youth College you cannot be registered as seeking employment with the Public Employment Service Austria (AMS).

The target group of Youth College are young migrants and young adults from EU countries and third countries.

Course offers and duration

The courses offered in the Youth College include basic modules such as maths, English and IT as well as German and specialised modules and support programmes.

Specialised modules such as compulsory schooling exams, peer interpreter classes and handicraft workshops can be attended depending on the previous education and on the educational aims of the young person. Additional programmes include social activities and job counselling.

The maximum duration of the Youth College is between six and 24 months. All courses are free of charge.

The project is funded in equal parts by the City of Vienna and the European Social Fund (ESF) with additional support by the Vienna Employment Promotion Fund (waff).
