Vienna's Water
Water Main Hiking Path
On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the First Vienna Spring Water Main, a hiking path was established in 1988 along the most picturesque sections of the main course.
Clean energy
The drinking water-based hydropower plant Mauer generates fully three million kilowatt-hours of energy per year, supplying 1,000 households with electricity.
Vienna's Water Supply
Vienna's drinking water originates in the Lower Austrian-Styrian Alps and reaches Vienna without pumps through galleries by exploiting the natural drop resulting from the difference in altitude.

The Vienna Water offers free brochures and DVDs about Vienna's water supply.
Vienna Water Tower
The Favoriten Water Tower, a former reservoir, is today used for exhibitions and events. The water tower is situated in the south of the city.
