Further information

You must notify the authority of any changes, such as a new vehicle registration number or a change of business address; however, no notification is required for a change of vehicle if the registration number remains the same. Failure to notify the authority of changes will invalidate the certificate of exemption.

The certificate of exemption may only be used for the purposes stated in the application. If the prerequisites for the exemption are no longer met, stipulations concerning the certificate of exemption are not followed, or the certificate of exemption is used in for a purpose other than the one it was granted for, it will be rescinded and the electronic parking chip will be deactivated.

In shopping streets in restricted parking zone areas, you may park for 1.5 hours with your parking card or electronic parking chip and a parking disc behind the windshield set to the proper time (exception: "Servicekarten").

Existing exemptions for businesses with trade-related off-site customer service that are granted for all districts with parking restrictions also apply to any new districts with parking restrictions that are created during the validity of the certificate of exemption.

More information:

Please note: You can help reduce the workload of the authorities considerably by submitting your documents by e-mail or fax and stating the case number ("Geschäftszahl" or "GZ"). Please let us know upon application whether the vehicle is already equipped with an electronic parking chip.

As a voluntary service, the Vienna City Administration notifies holders of certificates of exemption about three to four months before their expiry by sending an information letter with payment information. If you still meet the requirements, you can apply for a new exemption by paying the fee indicated in the letter. However, this is only possible if the circumstances have remained the same.
