The Vienna Climate Council consists of three boards that collaborate in different constellations. Together they combine backgrounds of science, administration, business, political parties, environmental organisations and civil society. In total, the council has more than 40 members. They are assigned by the mayor for a period of four years.
The advisory board with leading experts in science and research functions as the spokesbody. It advises representatives of the Steering Group, consisting of the mayor and executive city councillors, on challenges and possible measures in the climate context. In advance, it discusses its recommendations with the other two boards.
The Vienna Climate Council operates independently.
