Learning Your Way in Vienna

"Learning Your Way in Vienna" is a training that combines theoretical language lessons with the immediate application of the new language skills in situations of everyday life and provides a lot of information about life in Vienna. The duration of the training is several months and it is available to all UN employees, their families, and the staff of missions to the UN.

The participants learn German grammar as well as how to fill in parking permit forms and how much to tip. They make excursions to the Vienna fire brigade, Vienna Public Transport, the ambulance services and to a hospital.

The training is a joint project of the City of Vienna and the IAEA Division of Personnel, with the city providing the funding and organisation, it usually begins in spring and lasts three months. The lessons are held once a week in the early afternoon in two hour units at the VIC.
