The Ukrainian Symphony Orchestra performed at the Children and Youth Festival "Vienna Rhapsody"
In April 2025, the 4th Vienna Rhapsody Festival took place in Vienna. It was organised by the Vienna Beethoven Group, the BFI Vienna, and the Wiener Lerntafel, in cooperation with the Mykhailo Drahomanov University in Kyiv and the Vasyl Barvinsky State Music College in Drohobych.
The Sinfonietta symphony orchestra, consisting of Ukrainian students and teachers, also took part in the festival. The orchestra performed at both the festival opening and closing gala concerts.
Two more performances took place outside of Belvedere Palace and in the concert hall of Akademisches Gymnasium.
Academic exchange
The festival also included an academic conference. It was an opportunity for professors and teachers from the Vienna Beethoven Conservatory, Mykhailo Drahomanov University and the Vasyl Barvinsky State Music College to exchange ideas and experiences. Teachers and professors from the Vasyl Barvinsky State Music College were also part of the festival's jury. Following the event, the three institutions signed a cooperation agreement.
The Ukrainian orchestra participated in collaboration with the City of Vienna, which has maintained a long-standing partnership with the Austrian Library in Drohobych. This western Ukrainian city near Lviv, has a population of around 100,000 and played a significant role in oil production during the Austrian monarchy.
