In 2023, Slovakia celebrates 30 years of independence and 30 years of bilateral relations with Austria. To mark the occasion, a street festival was held on a sunny day on Karlsplatz square. It was organised by the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in cooperation with the City of Vienna and the Association for cultural networking and revitalisation of the Karlsplatz art square (Verein zur kulturellen Vernetzung und Belebung des Kunstplatzes Karlsplatz). The colourful hustle and bustle with arts, crafts and culinary delights attracted many people. The programme was rounded off by a string quartet and children performing folk dances in traditional clothing.

Chargé d'Affaires Martin Pankrac opened the event. Guest speakers were Juraj Droba, President of the Bratislava Region, and Ernst Woller, President of the Vienna Provincial Parliament. "The relations between us go back many centuries," said Woller, who also highlighted Vienna's many activities and Interreg projects with Slovakia.
