For years, Vienna has been a role model for Helsinki in many areas. This is reflected in the regular visits to our city, taking place consistently since before the pandemic.
A varied programme
The recent visit by Maarit Vierunen, Helsinki's Deputy Mayor, once again demonstrates that Vienna has much to offer. Meetings were held with Vienna's Senior Citizens' Officer and with representatives of the Vienna Social Fund, the Addiction and Drug Coordination Vienna, WienXtra Youth Information Centre and the City of Vienna's Departments for Child and Youth Welfare Service and for Education and Youth.
The delegation of more than 20 participants, comprising politicians from various parliamentary groups, senior officials and experts, was highly impressed - and not only by the scenic beauty of our city.
The visit was rounded off by a meeting with two Members of the Vienna City Council, Andrea Mautz (Social Affairs) and Astrid Pany (Education), who also took the time to show the group around the impressive Vienna City Hall.
Mutual exchange of expertise
What makes the partnership between the City of Vienna and the City of Helsinki so special is its two-way exchange of expertise, with both cities benefiting greatly from each other's knowledge and experience.
