Categories of flats

The categories (Ausstattungskategorien) are based on the flat’s condition at the time the tenancy agreement is signed.

Category A (Ausstattungskategorie A)

• Useable condition
• Floor space: at least 30 square metres
• Bedroom, kitchen or kitchenette, hallway, toilet, up-to-date (small) bathroom
• Common heating system, or floor heating, or stationary heating of the same standard
• Water heating system

Category B (Ausstattungskategorie B)

• Useable condition
• Bedroom, kitchen or kitchenette, hallway, toilet, up-to-date (small) bathroom

Category C (Ausstattungskategorie C)

• Useable condition
• Indoor water supply and toilet

Category D (Ausstattungskategorie D)

• Neither indoor water supply, nor toilet, or one of the two is unusable (repair in due time is not possible)
