Via reservoirs, the water is fed from the terminals of the Mountain Spring Pipelines into the municipal pipeline network and ultimately reaches our flats and houses: the pipeline network comprises a total length of over 3,000 kilometres of public pipes and more than 100,000 individual in-house tap connections.
Continuous monitoring and rehabilitation
In the past 30 years, measures were increasingly taken to combat water losses. Moreover, a higher degree of consumer awareness has evolved as well.
As a result, water losses dropped by 25 percent in this period. Suitable construction and ongoing monitoring activities enable the Vienna Water to keep the network losses low (currently approximately ten percent).
