Library of the Municipal and Provincial Archives of Vienna

The archive’s library collects literature ranging from archival science to a variety of historic disciplines and their auxiliary sciences. In addition to literature about Vienna’s history, it also collects books on the history of other German-speaking cities.

Collections include: archival science, digital archiving, digitisation, archiving photographs and audio-visual records, remembrance culture, Viennese companies, Viennese schools, Viennese hospitals, and deposit copies.

The library is a reference library, providing access to more than 120,000 items free of charge. Orders for the reading room can be placed directly via the online catalogue.

Political Documentation

Between 1977 and 2015, the Department for Political Documentation collected a wide range of materials related to political movements. This collection features posters and various items that have been part of election campaigns (including but not restricted to stickers, buttons, promotional pens et cetera).
