The main registration period for municipal kindergartens in Vienna is from 1 November to 31 December for the following kindergarten year. Parents will be informed about whether they have been allocated a place at a municipal kindergarten by the end of March. If there is no suitable place available at a municipal institution, parents will be supported in finding a place at a private facility.
Registrations for kindergarten places can be made any time online, also outside the opening hours of the service centres of the City of Vienna’s Kindergartens Department (MA 10).
Alternatively, the registration form can also be ordered by calling +43 1 277 55 55. You can return the completed form in the letter boxes of the service centres of the City of Vienna’s Kindergartens Department (MA 10) or you can send it to one of the service centres by e-mail, fax or post.
There will be no first-come, first-serve system for registrations made within the main registration period. When you register for a place at a municipal kindergarten, you automatically receive your client ID from the register of children attending kindergarten in Vienna.
Client ID for places at private kindergartens
If you want to register for a subsidised place at a private kindergarten, a children’s group or with day parents, your child needs a client ID number. You can apply for a client ID online, by e-mail, post, fax or in person at one of the service centres of the City of Vienna’s Kindergartens Department (MA 10). Once you have received your client ID, you can register your child directly with the private child-care facility.
