Private kindergartens are important partners of the City of Vienna and contribute to the variety of child-care services in Vienna. If you want to register your child for a private kindergarten, it is best to visit the kindergartens you are interested in in person and speak with the headteachers. First of all, you need to apply for a client ID with the City of Vienna’s Kindergartens Department (MA 10). After that you can register your child directly with the kindergarten or with the organisation operating the kindergarten.
Day parents
Day parents (Tagesmutter/Tagesvater) regularly provide childcare to a maximum of five children in their own home. This allows them to cater to the children’s individual needs.
Detailed information about child-care services provided by day parents is available from Wiener Hilfswerk (German), Volkshilfe Wien (German), Verein Eltern für Kinder Österreich (German) and Kinderdrehscheibe (German).
Children’s groups
Information about early childhood education and childcare services in Vienna is available on the information platform Search for Kindergartens, Children's Groups, Day Parents and After-School Care Centres. The website helps parents find childcare places in both municipal and private facilities.
