Tasks

Municipal Department 28 - Road Management and Construction (MA 28) is responsible for the planning, construction, maintenance, and general administration of the public road network (roads and traffic areas) in Vienna. The Department also coordinates construction measures on public roads. Further important tasks are the production and maintenance of road signs, pavement markings, street name signs, and bicycle stands.

Municipal Department 28 strives to provide Vienna and its citizens with an excellent, safe and efficient road network.

Facts and figures

Municipal Department 28 administers approximately 6,800 roads in Vienna amounting to about 2,800 kilometres. The Department was in charge of 721 construction sites in 2007 and coordinated 9,548 trench-digging projects on public roads.
