This year, it was Bratislava's turn to host the meeting of high-level representatives of five capital cities. From 21 to 22 March 2024, the Chief Executive Directors of Bratislava, Budapest, Ljubljana, Prague and Vienna gathered in the capital of the Slovak Republic to discuss their experience since the last CED meeting and address future challenges.

The Chief Executive Directors who met at the Bratislava Primate's Palace had chosen mobility as the core topic of their exchange for this year. The expert presentations addressed various mobility issues, including ways to improve the urban cycling infrastructure or to promote ecological transport modes and climate-friendly mobility in urban development. The programme also included a short visit to an ongoing transport infrastructure project in central Bratislava.

The annual meeting is part of a long-standing exchange on current strategies and challenges in the capital cities of Central Europe. Recent annual meetings focused on topics like the energy transition, urban development, parking space management, brownfield site development, citizen participation or affordable housing.

Next year the Chief Executive Directors of Central European cities will meet in Prague.
