Herderpark

Description of the Park

Herder Park was built by the management office of Vienna's Parks and Gardens Department under the direction of Fritz Kratochwjle. Two of the main reasons for its creation were the unsatisfactory living conditions and the inadequate provision of free space in the outer districts of the city. Its design is architectonic, based on a school building in the eastern part of the park.

In front of the building is a rose garden, next to which is a large grassy area where sports activities and school events are held. A key feature of the park is its many fruit trees and shrubs and the lilac garden. In April and May the entire park is filled with the scent of flowers and a sea of blossom.
