Collections and museums of all sizes offer insights into culture, technology, nature and Vienna’s history. Almost all museums in Vienna offer free admission to children and young people.

District Museums

Vienna’s District Museums present the history of the respective districts in their exhibitions. Admission to the District Museums is free.

Wien Museum

The City of Vienna has its own city museum, the WIEN MUSEUM. The historical and art collections of the Wien Museum illustrate the city’s development throughout the centuries. The main museum is located on Karlsplatz. There is free admission to all permanent and special exhibitions at the Wien Museum on the first Sunday of every month.

MuseumsQuartier Vienna

With around 60 cultural institutions, the MuseumsQuartier Vienna is one of the world’s largest cultural complexes. It also includes exhibition spaces for architecture, fashion and design. There is free admission to many events in the outdoor areas of the MuseumsQuartier Vienna and to the MQ Passages, the historic passageways between the courtyards that have evolved into open exhibition spaces.
