The Water Main Hiking Path

If you want to combine a day out in the lovely landscape of the Rax and Schneeberg mountains or the vineyards south of Vienna with learning lots of interesting facts about Vienna’s drinking water supply, a walk along one of the two routes of the Vienna Main Hiking Path is an excellent idea.

The headwaters of the First Spring Water Main comprise the massifs of Schneeberg, Rax and Schneealpe. The Water Main Hiking Path along the course of the First Spring Water Main is composed of two sections. Both routes were designed as easy one-day trips for the whole family. Depending on your fitness and personal taste, you can start your excursion from any point of the Water Main Hiking Path. The points of departure and arrival can be easily reached from Vienna by bus and railway.
