Resident parking permit – special provisions for holders of an allotment garden (Kleingarten)
From 1 October 2012, you are also eligible for a permanent parking permit ("parking sticker") if you only have your secondary (rather than primary) residence in a short-term parking zone in Vienna, provided that the neighbourhood falls under one of the following official land use categories:
- "Erholungsgebiet Kleingarten", (recreation area - allotment gardens)
- "Erholungsgebiet Kleingarten ganzjähriges Wohnen" (recreation area - allotment gardens that may be inhabited all year), or
- "Erholungsgebiet Badehütte" (recreation area - bathing hut)
Please note that your primary place of residence must still be (elsewhere) in Vienna for this provision to apply. Applicants whose primary place of residence is outside Vienna do not qualify for a parking permit.
The requirements for application are the same as for the resident parking permit:
- The applicant has leased or holds a vehicle license for a motor vehicle, or has been permitted to use a company-owned vehicle for private purposes.
- The applicant has a vested interest in parking near their place of residence.
In this case, a vested interest is considered to exist particularly if no other garage or parking space is available nearby.
The permit for allotment garden holders falling under the exemption provision can only be granted for the period from March to October (gardening season).
Parking sticker for primary and secondary places of residence
If you have obtained a parking permit for your secondary residence in the allotment garden, you are still entitled to a parking sticker for the area of your primary residence - either for the same or for a different motor vehicle.
Combined applications for parking permits at your primary and secondary place of residence must be submitted to the Municipal District Office of the district your primary residence is in. If you have your primary residence in a zone that is not subject to parking management restrictions, or have other reasons for applying for a parking sticker at your secondary residence only, this application must be submitted to the Municipal District Office of the district the secondary residence is located in.
Provided that the parking sticker applications for primary and secondary residence for the same vehicle are submitted simultaneously, the administrative fee of EUR 35.70 must only be paid once.
Please note that you cannot use the online (e-government) form to apply for a parking sticker for allotment garden holders.
