Vienna Climate Guide
The climate crisis calls for long-term and viable solutions. In the government agreement concluded in 2020, the Vienna City Government thus committed itself to the goal of achieving climate neutrality and climate resilience by 2040.
A key element towards this goal is the Vienna Climate Guide, which has been defining the reference framework for becoming a climate-friendly city since 2022. Based on the goals of the Smart Climate City Strategy Vienna (German acronym SKCSW), the overarching sustainability strategy document of the City of Vienna, the Vienna Climate Guide contains strategic levers, sets of measures and tools – all underpinned by preparatory work carried out by the City Administration – that are needed to achieve climate neutrality and climate resilience in the Austrian capital.
The Vienna Climate Guide provides the link between theory and practice. It embodies common visions and clearly states what is needed for turning them into reality. After all, it is not enough to just talk about socially equitable climate protection, climate adaptation and the circular economy – rather, we must join forces to tackle them.
