2.2 Variety of Flavours at Rathausplatz
Demel: Kaiserschmarrn & Kaffee
Demel has existed since 1786 and is known for its world-famous Viennese desserts. Its artistic shop window displays attract passers-by and transport them to Vienna’s elegant past. A visit to Demel is more than just a coffee break: it invites guests to relax, enjoy, and briefly escape everyday life. As part of the Wienliebe Festival, Demel brings a piece of this tradition to Rathausplatz and serves its world-famous Kaiserschmarrn.
Duru: Kebab & Wraps
Duru focuses on modern and sustainable street food. It serves freshly prepared organic döner from a self-prepared premium spit. Guests can choose between chicken from regional organic farming, grilled halloumi, or homemade falafel. The dishes are offered as pita, wrap, or bowl and are refined with fresh salad, tomatoes, red cabbage, and creamy yoghurt sauce – optionally with hummus or spicy sauce. Quality, sustainability, and authentic taste make every bite special.
Durchhaus: Crêpes & Waffles
Durchhaus brings freshly prepared crêpes and waffles, offering French street food directly to its guests and focusing on simple, high-quality enjoyment. The selection ranges from sweet variations to savoury crêpes in a wrap style, combining classic Viennese and Austrian cuisine with a modern, seasonal approach shaped by regional influences.
Figlmüller: Brioche & Brösel
Since 1905, Figlmüller has stood like few other names for the Wiener Schnitzel. Over generations, the house has established itself as a cornerstone of Viennese gastronomy – shaped by craftsmanship, quality, and consistency. Here, the Wiener Schnitzel is regarded as a living cultural heritage, thoughtfully reinterpreted with a contemporary approach. In this way, Viennese cuisine also finds its place in a modern form at Rathausplatz – for example with the Wiener Burger, a Tafelspitz Burger, vegetarian No-Chicken variations, and crispy Figlmüller Fries. Tradition, Viennese identity, and artisanal precision come together to create a harmonious culinary experience.
Gelbmanns: Wiener Schnitzel & More
The Wiener Schnitzel is considered the signature dish of Viennese cuisine and a strong symbol of its culinary tradition. Gelbmanns Gaststube has long stood for classic Viennese pub culture and high quality. Schnitzels are served from veal, pork, or turkey from Austrian farming, supplied directly by Fleischerei Gissinger in Ottakring. The golden, crispy breading makes every bite enjoyable. A vegan schnitzel option also allows tradition to be experienced in a modern way.
Gigerl: Wein & Leberkäse
Austrian cuisine and Viennese food culture are at the centre of Stadtheuriger Gigerl. Guests can enjoy organic Leberkäse rolls, classic and spicy pastry variations, vegan pretzels, vegetarian cheese sticks, and other traditional snacks. Homemade Kaiserschmarrn and aromatic coffee complete the offer.

From classic styles to innovative creations, there is something for every taste. The brewery is also a well-known event location and an important part of Vienna’s urban culture.
Paco: Wiener Tapas
“Wiener Tapas” by Paco combines the idea of Spanish tapas with the diversity of Viennese cuisine. In a relaxed atmosphere, small dishes are served that are interpreted in a Viennese way and prepared almost exclusively with regional and seasonal ingredients. Guests can try creative specialities such as crispy Donaufischerl, imperial chicken skewers made from Austrian organic chicken, or homemade spicy potatoes.
Tesla: Pizza & Pasta
Tesla Pizza focuses on classic Italian favourites, offering pizzas and pasta made with high-quality organic ingredients. The dough is made from certified organic flour, and the sauces from sun-ripened organic tomatoes. Guests can enjoy pizzas such as Margherita, Prosciutto San Daniele, or the spicy Adriano Celentano. The menu is complemented by aromatic pasta dishes such as Pasta al Pomodoro or Pasta con Tartufo.
Wiener Gusto: Burger & Fries
Wiener Gusto brings regional organic food to Rathausplatz. As the organic brand of the City of Vienna’s forestry and agriculture operations, it uses ingredients from farms in and around Vienna and stands for sustainable quality. The focus is on hearty burgers with organic Viennese beef, wild meat patties, or vegan vegetable patties in a wheat bun with salad, tomato, pickles, and homemade burger sauce, served with organic fries. Chicken wings are also available.
