Basic education courses for mothers - "Mum learns German!"
"Mum learns German!" courses are a good opportunity to learn German für educationally deprived mothers of children who go to kindergarten or school.
"Mum learns German!" courses are funded by Municipal Department 17 - Integration and Diversity (MA 17), the Federal Ministry of Education (BMB) and the European Social Fund (ESF) in the framework of the Adult Education Initiative by the federal government and the provinces. They are organised in close cooperation with schools and kindergartens.
The training of basic skills for mothers are mainly held at the schools or kindergartens of their children. Mothers who attend the course get to know their children's teachers and other parents. They meet new people and can practice their German and basic skills.
Mothers with a native language other than German and with a basic educational need (maximum eight years of school education) can learn at "Mum learns German!" about everyday matters such as kindergarten, school, education, profession, health, authorities or housing. In addition there are lectures and excursions. "Mum learns German!" courses also include a step-by-step literacy course for women who have learned how to read and write in a different alphabet.
If required free childcare is available during course hours for smaller children who do not yet attend kindergarten or school so that mothers can concentrate on studying basic skills.
