In mid-June 2021, Markéta Vanková came to Vienna on her second official visit since taking office as Mayor of the City of Brno. Her meeting with Mayor Michael Ludwig focused on the excellent cooperation between the 2 cities, which is about to expand into new fields like science, research and climate mitigation.

Brno and Vienna maintain a regular exchange at expert level, including a recent visit to vaccination centres in Vienna and the Johanniter ambulance service. Vienna's Smart City Agency (Urban Innovation Vienna) chaired a workshop at the international Smart City URBIS Conference held in Brno and online.

Mayor Vanková and Mayor Ludwig opened an exhibition on Adolf Loos and his work in Brno and Pilsen at the Czech Centre. The exhibition had been postponed from 2020. At the vernissage, models of realised and unrealised designs by the famous architect were on display for the first time in Vienna.
