Laudatory speech by Chief Executive Director Erich Hechtner

On behalf of Mayor and Governor Michael Ludwig, Chief Executive Director Erich Hechtner presented Pavel Loutockı with the Grand Decoration of Honour in Silver of the Province of Vienna. Hechtner, who met Loutockı for the first time 11 years ago, emphasised how important the long-standing cooperation has been for Vienna. "Pavel Loutockı allowed me to take a look behind the scenes - in particular regarding Czech politics and administrative processes in the Czech Republic", said Hechtner.

"Brno is smaller than Vienna but faces the same challenges as the Austrian capital with its nearly 2 million inhabitants. The importance of the exchange of expertise at local level became clear in particular in areas such as train stations, smart city and "housing first". During his term of office, which lasted for about a quarter of a century, Loutockı succeeded in making Brno a renowned conference city."

Future cooperation

Oliver Pospisil is the new Chief Executive Director of Brno. His predecessor Pavel Loutockı said, "I promise that the friendly and respectful cooperation between Vienna and Brno will be continued in the future". He confirmed that his successor would also focus on cross-border cooperation and would be a very reliable partner.
