Events - LIFE+ Alte Donau

Alongside hydraulic engineering and ecological measures, the focus of the LIFE+ Alte Donau project was on public engagement.

Public events and activities gave local residents, visitors and user groups an insight into the great ecological importance of the Alte Donau and the necessity of long-term measures to protect this sensitive urban body of water.

A wide-ranging programme of events

As part of the project, the environmental education organisation Umweltspürnasen organised experience-based activities for schools, families, children and teens. Experts from Municipal Department 45 - Water Management (MA 45) escorted groups of visitors on guided urban walks and boat trips.

Municipal Department 45 was also present with a LIFE info stand at events on and around the Alte Donau as well as at numerous events organised by the City of Vienna.
