Discover the Danube Island with the Hearonymus app

Visitors can use the free "Hearonymus" app to discover the Danube Island. The audio guide "Things to see on the Danube Island" offers a circular tour providing fascinating insights and information about the island:

  • Climate change and its impact on the Danube Island
  • Duration: The audio guide lasts for about 37 minutes. The circular tour takes about 2 hours.
  • Route: The route starts at Reichsbrücke bridge (U1 underground station "Donauinsel") and continues along the banks of the Danube to the Wehr 1 barrage, returning from there to Floridsdorf Bridge.

2 new chapters available since April 2022

Since April 2022, there are two new chapters available for the audio guide. The chapter "The challenge of climate change - the EU Project LIFE DICCA" informs about already finished measures on the Danube Island.

Those include projects like the beehives on the Daube Island, the sheep on the Danube Island that act as lawnmowers or the creation of new ponds and revitalization of existing ones that provide a habitat for amphibians. In the new chapter "The climate gardens", the visitors learn how to observe trees and shrubs that help to collect relevant climate data.
