From April to October 2023 a flock of sheep was put out to graze on various areas of grassland on the northern part of the Danube Island.

Since spring 2021, 50 colonies of bees have been living on the Danube Island, the honey they produce has been available to buy.

The green zones of the island and the adjacent Danube and New Danube waterways have a cooling effect. Nevertheless, climate change and its negative impacts are also making themselves felt on the Danube Island. more
The Danube Island
The Danube Island is part of the City of Vienna's flood protection infrastructure. Together with the New Danube waterway it also serves as a local recreation area for the people of Vienna. mehr
