Expropriation by the Nazi regime

The Austrian Historical Commission was established on 1 October 1998 by the Austrian federal government with the mandate "to research and report about the whole complex of looting of property in the territory of the Republic of Austria in the Nazi era and acts of restitution and/or compensation (including economic and social benefits) by the Republic of Austria after 1945". Approximately 160 researchers worked on 47 projects for a period of four years. The Commission’s final report was presented on 27 January 2003 and contains the following information:
