Learning German in Vienna

The City of Vienna has promoted German language courses for migrants for many years. The low-threshold programmes focus on specific target groups.

Thousands of migrants voluntarily attend German language courses each year. The courses are organised by Municipal Department 17 - Integration and Diversity (MA 17) in cooperation with qualified course providers.

Migrants can get subsidies for many types of German language courses from the Vienna Chamber of Labour (Arbeiterkammer Wien - AK) and from the Vienna Employment Promotion Fund (waff).
