Christianity
- 12 August: Roma pilgrimage
- The traditional pilgrimage of the Austrian Roma to Mariazell takes place on the first Sunday before Assumption Day. It is closely associated with the Catholic adoration of the Virgin Mary in terms of the Hungarian tradition.
- 15 August: Assumption Day
- Catholics celebrate the feast of the Assumption of the body and soul of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Hinduism
- 10 August: Rama Krishna Jayanti (Ramanavami)
- Lord Rama, hero of the religious epic poem "The Ramayana" is worshiped as the perfect man and as an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
Islam
- 19 to 21 August: Eid ul Fitr (Turkish: Seker Bayrami; Ramazan Bayrami)
- It is a festival of thanksgiving to Allah for enjoying the month of Ramadan and symbolises the breaking of the fasting period. Today, the Turkish name Seker Bayrami is associated with the sweets (seker = sugar) which are given as presents on this day. That is why the day is also called "Sugar Festival". Depending on the national calendar tradition, the festival begins on 19 August (e.g. in Turkey) or on 20 August.
