International Vienna

The international activities of the City of Vienna are coordinated on behalf of Mayor Michael Häupl. Since 2006 the City of Vienna, the Vienna Tourist Board, the Vienna Business Agency and the Vienna Economic Chamber have pursued a joint strategy in international city marketing.

The following two departments of the Vienna City Administration are responsible for international activities:

Chief Executive Office - Executive Group for International Relations

The Chief Executive Office for International Relations, headed by Oskar Wawra, Executive Director of International Relations, is the contact point and coordination unit of the City of Vienna for international institutions, embassies, international organisations, and the United Nations as well as for requests to the City of Vienna from abroad. The Chief Executive Office for International Relations coordinates the establishment of international organisations in Vienna and runs the Vienna Service Office in the Vienna International Centre. The Chief Executive Office also represents the City of Vienna in international networks and plans and organises international aid measures by the City of Vienna.

Director of Communications and Media (Press and Information Services of the City of Vienna, Municipal Department MA 53)

Fred Vavrousek, Director of Communications and Media and head of the Press and Information Services, coordinates the time schedule and contents of international activities pursued by the City Administration departments and their affiliated and strategic partners. The Press and Information Services also take care of international public relations and promote the City of Vienna abroad.
