UN- study: Vienna is the most prosperous city in the world
The World Urban Forum edition of the "State Of The World’s Cities Report 2012/2013" has ranked Vienna as the most prosperous city among 70 metropolises of the world.
The UN-HABITAT report looks at factors such as productivity, sustainability, quality of life, and infrastructure. Vienna has got top rankings in all categories and has therefore outperformed cities with an equally high quality of life such as Zurich, Toronto, and Brussels.
Mayor Michael Häupl and Deputy Mayor Renate Brauner:
The report is an approval of our policies and a great compliment to everyone who put all their efforts and heart in making Vienna what it is: one of the most attractive cities in the world!

Vienna Charter contributes to good quality of life
Sandra Frauenberger, Executive City Councillor for Integration, is particularly happy that the Vienna Charter has been mentioned in the report in connection with "non-discrimination at all levels":
The Vienna Charter is a solidarity project that should considerably contribute to the quality of life and good neighbourly relations in our city. It is a great honour for our city and the Charter that the project has been praised even before the official presentation of the results in November.
