Tenants Assistance Hotline
The tenants assistance hotline is the only facility in Vienna to offer rapid and free-of-charge assistance in all housing matters weekdays from 8 am to 8 pm Most requests are dealt with immediately. For more complex matters the hotline will get in touch with the competent authorities.
Members of staff at the tenants assistance hotline handle matters concerning community-owned apartment buildings, as well as private buildings and property owned by non-profit building societies. They can provide information on rent and running costs, on how to deal with landlords and agents, how to read and understand your rental agreement and what to do with noisy neighbours. They also have information on projects for new subsidized housing implemented by the City, commercial companies and non-profit building societies.

Wohnservice Wien Ges.m.b.H.
Wohnservice Wien was established in January 2000. Partners in the company are the wohnfonds_wien (Fund for Housing Construction and Urban Renewal) and the City of Vienna. Wohnservice Wien services include:
- Information on available housing (subsidized rental and co-operative apartments, subsidized condominiums, co-operative apartments that can be re-rented and renovated apartments in old buildings)
- Community-owned apartments
- Assistance with subsidies
- Financing assistance
- Concluding rental agreements
- Assistance with residence rights
- Assistance with all housing matters
- Referring requests for direct problem solutions
- Managing complaints

Housing Promotion and Arbitration Board for Legal Housing Matters (Municipal Department 50)
The arbitration board is responsible for implementing tenants’ rights (tenants of community-owned and co-operative apartments), landlords’ and owners’ rights. Its activities include, amongst others, rent and running cost assessments and contestations of useable floor space. The arbitration board does not, however, act as a lobby for tenants, landlords or owners.
