The Water Pipeline Hiking Path - From Kaiserbrunn to Gloggnitz

Three hikers walking along a path in a forest.

Starting at the camping site, walk from Kaiserbrunn (1) along a prepared path through Höllental Valley until reaching Windbrücke Bridge and continuing to Hirschwang (approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes). After crossing the weir on Schwarza River, follow the federal road through Höllental Valley, passing Café Knusperhäuschen (2) and the Hirschwangerhof Inn (2), until you reach the building "Musikerheim Hirschwang". Now leave the road and head for the paper mill. Walk across the mill canal bridge, first along the road and later along the Mountain Spring Pipeline in the direction of Reichenau. You will then reach the medieval castle with Café Nöbauer and the castle restaurant Schlosstuben for some refreshment.

Hiking path from Kaiserbrunn to Gloggnitz

Walk across the promenade until reaching the bridge across Schwarza River near the Kurtheater, then take the federal road until Payerbach, passing below the viaduct of the Semmering Railway and turning left into Anton-Weiser-Straße. Crossing the railway road will then take you to Payerbach-Reichenau Railway Station. The section between Hirschwang and Payerbach takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. The Water Pipeline Hiking Path will lead you through Payerbach along the course of the First Vienna Mountain Spring Pipeline between the southern railway line and Schwarza River, passing the waterworks superintendent’s house until reaching Schlöglmühl Railway Station. After this, follow the tarred left-hand path along the bank of Schwarza River until reaching the passage below the railway tracks. Now walk left along the railway towards Obere Silbersbergstraße until reaching the pedestrian bridge across the tracks; then continue until you reach Gloggnitz Railway Station (3). The last section of this hike takes approximately one hour and 45 minutes.
