Short-term Parking - Permanent Parking Permit (Parkpickerl) for Residents - Certificate of Exemption pursuant to Art. 45 (4) Austrian Federal Road Traffic Act

Preconditions

Persons with their primary residence in the districts 1 to 9 and 20 or in the area around Stadthalle in the 15th district can be issued a certificate of exemption pursuant to Art. 45 (4) Austrian Federal Road Traffic Act if they have a vehicle licence for a multi-track vehicle (this means not a motorcycle etc.) or lease such a vehicle (the address on the vehicle licence must be the same as their primary residence) and can demonstrate a vested interest in parking near this residence. Such an interest would exist particularly if no garage or parking spot is available. A permanent parking permit can also be issued for residents who drive a company owned vehicle that is certified for private use, if they meet the above conditions. The application for a certificate of exemption can also be made for transferable number plates (Wechselkennzeichen).

Documents required
  • Car licence (in case of transferable number plates the licences for all vehicles)
  • Driving licence
  • In case of leased motor vehicles not licensed to the applicant: leasing contract
  • In case of company owned vehicles: company certification for private use and pay slip (relevancy) and/or tax declaration with private share
  • Persons with diplomatic status: legitimation card and tenancy agreement
  • In case of disability: certificate of disability issued by the Federal Social Welfare Office (Bundessozialamt)
  • Certificate of exemption from parking fee (if available)

Costs
  • Federal fee:
    EUR 13.20 for application and EUR 3.60 for each related enclosure
  • Administrative fee:
    EUR 44.69
  • Parking fee:
    Depending on the validity period (no less than 3 months; calendar months already started are charged in full)
    Districts 1 to 9 and 20 th district: EUR 135 (1 year) or EUR 270 (2 years)
    15th district: EUR 60.60 (1 year) or EUR 120.20 (2 years)

If you return your parking permit prior to its expiration, the remainder of the parking fee (in full months) will be refunded.

Deadline

None
You will automatically receive a payment slip for extending your parking permit (if all your data have remained the same). This automatic extension is not yet carried out for the 15th district.

Please note
  • Only one permanent parking permit can be issued per person.
  • If you receive a new windshield due to repairs you will receive a new permit free of charge by presenting your vehicle licence, your driving licence and the peeled-off old permit (or all its parts).
  • If you no longer need your permit (for example because you have moved), the remainder of the fee (in full months) will be refunded on presentation of the peeled-off permit and an ID.
  • If your vehicle information changes (for example because you have bought a new vehicle), the competent District Office will issue you a new permit on presentation of the peeled-off permit, your driving licence and a fee of EUR 57.69 (EUR 44.69 administrative fee, EUR 13.20 federal fee).
