Applying for a film permit
General requirements
A film permit is required when filming in locations that fall within the responsibility of the Vienna City Administration, such as municipal swimming pools, public parks and green spaces, public schools, children's playgrounds, sports facilities, Danube Island, municipal hospitals, kindergartens, libraries, premises of the Vienna Ambulance Services or Fire Services, as well as public sewers, markets and many other locations.
Filming on public roads and traffic surfaces may require temporary no-stopping zones, traffic diversions or road blocks: Permission to film on public roads and traffic surfaces

Fees
The total fees and costs depend on various factors, including the duration and complexity of the film project (i.e. charges for administrative decrees, for temporary no-stopping zones, staff costs for police officers or fire fighters, public lighting and energy costs, general permission fees, rental costs, fees for vehicle entry permits, etc.).
The Vienna Film Commission forwards every application to the competent Municipal Department of the Vienna City Administration (depending on the respective film location), which subsequently informs the production company of the costs and draws up a contract.

Deadline
Please allow for a minimum processing time of three workdays in the competent Municipal Department. Of course, the time required will also depend on the complexity of the film project.
Please note
The Vienna Film Commission forwards every application for a film permit to the competent department of the Vienna City Administration, which subsequently issues the permit directly to the production company.
