Erection or operation of a market stand - permits

General information

You will need a permit issued by the Market Authority (MA 59 in Vienna) to put up or to operate a production facility on market places and/or in market stands.

Requirements

• Erection of stable buildings
• Important modifications to long-term stable buildings (rebuilding, installations and so forth)
• Setting up a sales cart
• Setting up a sales stand
• Modifications of the external appearance of stable buildings, sales cars and sales stands
• Activation of and changes to technical installations (gas, electricity, water, sewage disposal, et cetera)

Good Friday: 7.30 am to 12 noon and telephone on-call service from 12 noon to 9 pm; 24 December: from 7.30 am to 12 noon and telephone on-call service from 12 noon to 3 pm; 31 December: from 7.30 am to 12 noon and telephone on-call service from 12 noon to 5 pm; closed on public holidays.

Documents required

Please include in your documents a description and a plan of how you will put your undertaking into effect. If necessary, please list which machinery, equipment or machines need to be exchanged/operated or which facilities you will need additionally to the existing ones.

For your application for a Market Authority permit you will need a description of the building and five copies of the necessary maps. If machinery or equipment need to be installed, please enclose five copies of the list and the descriptions of the machines (service manuals, for example for fridges include information about the wattage, type of energy, coolant quantity and required pressure).

To keep processing times to a minimum, you should submit a complete and detailed application including all required documents such as a plan of the market stand and/or market place including the exact measurements of passageways, the layout of market places, etc..

If any documents are missing, you will be asked in writing to submit them within a time period of four (4) weeks. If you fail to submit the required documents on time, we will have to reject your application at your cost and with an official notice pursuant to the General Administrative Procedure Act (AVG).

Fees

The application and administrative process are subject to a fee.

Form

The application is filled in at the office of the Market Authority, signed by the applicant and the officer of the Market Authority and submitted on location.

Further information

Please note that a Market Authority permit can only be issued if there is no danger to people, if the local market conditions allow for it and if there is no adverse effect on the general market appearance.
