EU Strategy and Economic Development (Municipal Department 27)
Contact (German)
Austria’s EU accession in 1995 entailed a change in legislative and administrative frame conditions for Vienna as well. Moreover, numerous sectors, such as energy, were likewise liberalised within the European Union, resulting in a redefinition of the roles of local and regional authorities. As a strategic unit, the Municipal Department 27 - EU Strategy and Economic Development (MA 27) tries to recognise at an early date, and possibly to influence, potential new developments for the benefit of Vienna.
Tasks
- Labour and Economy

Objectives
Municipal Department 27 renders its services on behalf of decision-makers both at the political level and within the scope of the Vienna City Administration.

Importance for Vienna
The expertise of Municipal Department 27 serves to recognise, at an early date, such developments in the above-described areas as might impact Vienna, to prepare suitable positions to be adopted by the Austrian capital and, if necessary, to highlight alternative options to counteract potential negative trends.
