The amendments to the Law on Residence and Settlement (NAG) (German) came into force on 1 July 2011.

Residence permits
The types of residence permit depend on the country of origin, the duration of your stay in Austria, and on a possible family relationship with Austrian nationals.
EEA and Swiss nationals
- Confirmation of registration (Anmeldebescheinigung) and/or documentation for EEA and Swiss nationals - application (German)
- Permanent residence permit (Daueraufenthaltskarte) - residence permit for family members of EEA and Swiss nationals - application (German)
Third country nationals
- Temporary residence without the intention to settle in Austria (German)
- Long-term residence with the intention to settle in Austria (German)

Please note that the Law on Residence and Settlement (NAG) requires you to file your application from abroad in certain cases. You can only file your application in Austria if you meet certain requirements.
